An
exclusive dulcimer duet by two excellent dulcimer players, who did not only
bring their virtuosity but also brought their brothers to this unique
production: Cimbalom Brothers.
Jenő Lisztes visited the biggest concert hall of the world from New York to
Mumbai, Sidney to Moscow with Roby Lakatos’s band in the past 10 years and he
amazed the audience with his virtuous dulcimer music which combines jazz and
traditional Hungarian gypsy music. Balázs Unger, the lead figure of Cimbaliband
does not need to be introduced to the fans of folk and world music. Balázs seasons
this unique musical project with authentic Hungarian folk music and Balkan
dulcimer melodies. Having two dulcimers on a stage is already a rarity but the Cimbalom
Brothers does not finish here. Bali brings his brother, the guitarist Gergő Unger
to the production, who is known as the ‘engine’ Cimbaliband. This time he does not simply play the guitar
but the cobza and tambura as well. Jenő brings his brother, the double bass
player László Lisztes to the band, who played with him for many years in Roby
Lakatos’s band. Laci is quite familiar with the traditional Hungarian gypsy
music but he is also experienced in jazz and Balkan melodies.
The Cimbalom Brothers raises the image of Hungaricum and Hungarian dulcimer to
a new, really adorable and unique level. The audience can get a fantastic
musical experience from the mutual production of the two musical families.
