JaMese – an
acronym tells us everything abound the band: Jam – freedom, creativity; mese
(tale) – passing over stories, thoughts; Emese – the character of the singer Emese
Molnár sums it up all.
As a child she already fell in love with tales and stories. As a girl in the
countryside, she had to help a lot on the fields, in the garden and her mother
who happens to be a teacher used this time to tell her one story after the
other. Some stories were from her grandfather’s rare Indian tale collection,
some from the tales of operas, others were folk tales or the stories of a
Fellini film. These experiences give inspirations for her songs as well; these
are eternal, value-proof and modern stories where the symbiosis of melody and
lyrics create the unique word of JaMese.
In spring 2018 the band came out with a new album. After their debut album
‘Only to the Sun’, the next one, ‘The World is in Me’ follows the traditions:
the eternal song format stays but the music is more mature. Emese wrote the
title song together with János Lackfi. The contemporary poet wrote the words
easily to the JaMese melodies, and a dynamic ‘message song’ was born. One song
on the album is written by Emese’s favourite contemporary poet, Anna Szabó T. with
the title ‘A Musician’s Song’, which may be known for the concert going
audience as ‘The Air is Free in Me’. There is also a groove-like radio friendly
poem adaptation ‘Örökmúlás’, which Anna wrote for the request of the Radnóti
Theatre.
The biggest part of the album consists of own songs: the song ‘Three Girls’
come from Emese’s childhood, ‘Rain’ simulates the sound of rain and brings some
melancholy to the album which is good to get to know a bit better. The singer
shows a bit fiercer, more dynamic side of her character in the songs
‘Purgatory’ and ‘Bird of Soul’.
