Botanical Garden in Gödöllő
The garden was the first agro-botanical garden of Hungary, founded in 1959 and more than 1400 native and allochton plants live here even from remote continents. From among the 15 different collections the temperate climate bamboos, the colourful magnolias and wild roses belong to the most species rich collections of the country.
The visitor can find different carnivorous plants, bromelias, cacti and other interesting plants. In the collection ‘Living Fossils’ we can see the peers of the dinosaurs. Among the cultivated plants both well-known and not so known domesticated plants are also shown. The educational trail guides you to a unique forest community of the country where you can meet several floating and waterfront plants of our aqueous habitats.
Although the garden offers a lot to see in each season probably the aspect of spring is the most colourful and not surprisingly most of the protected plants bloom in this period. Our garden has been under the local protection of the Town of Gödöllő since 2008.
