Humour is
humans’ privilege. There are examples for cheerfulness, play and fun in the
world of animals, too but generating funny things intentionally is the nature
of Homo sapiens. A giraffe doesn’t wonder how to joke a lion or make his mates
laugh and a meerkat cannot laugh when his companion falls. We can. Humour is a
gift for mankind, it entertains us and many times it manages stress. Its source
is many times our own stupidity, peccadillo regarding the individual or the
mankind.
The new mutual evening by Ádám Kiss and Dénes
Benk is based on this theory. The production examines the disadvantages of
human evolution especially that the thinking human has to cope with huge
burdens (advertisements, front pages, courses, lifestyle tips, etc,) which are
full of controversies. We know what is good and bad, healthy or harmful, still
we get lost in the tsunami of information and our decisions are not always the
best. Maybe that’s why we got the ability to laugh, to take it easy and accept
our burdens and faults.
